Students will make up a story about a time they wanted to spend an allowance of money on a particular item that is sold by different stores, some of which have a membership fee and some do not. In their story, they must include: - Details about the items and stores from their research - The equations that would help them solve the problem of where to shop - An illustration of the problem in the form of a graph using y=mx+b - A resolution in which they choose where to shop and explain why they chose that location.

8.EE.B.6
Use similar triangles to explain why the slope m is the same between any two distinct points on a non-vertical line in the coordinate plane; derive the equation y = mx for a line through the origin and the equation y = mx + b for a line intercepting the vertical axis at b.
8.EE.C.8.aUnderstand that solutions to a system of two linear equations in two variables correspond to points of intersection of their graphs, because points of intersection satisfy both equations simultaneously.
